Vicky Kaushal first look from the sets of Shaheed Udham Singh’s biopic is out

Vicky Kaushal is back to surprise his audience again. The first look of Vicky Kaushal from Shoojit Sircar’s biopic Udham Singh is released. The actor looks in an intense mood in the picture, in a winter look on the sets in Russia.
After the huge sucess of Uri: The Surgical Strike, Vicky Kaushal is playing the role of the freedom fighter in Shoojit Sircar’s next directorial biopic ‘Sardar Udham Singh’. The biopic is set in the 1940s when the revolutionary Udham Singh tracked down and assassinated Michael O’Dwyer the then Lieutenant Governor of Punjab, who was responsible for the brutal Jallianwala Bagh massacre on April 13. Udham Singh was later hanged by the British government, but he kick-started the non-co-operation movement against the British.
Vicky Kaushal took to social media to share his first look from the sets of the film. The URI actor is currently shooting for the period drama in St. Petersburg, Russia and even shared a small video of the city on his Instagram stories. Take a look at Vicky Kaushal’s post here:
Talking about the shoot in Russia, Shoojit said, “This is my first period film and it’s hard to create that environment and these characters that are a part of our history. The Russians love India… They love Raj Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan and Mithun da (Chakraborty). If you want something you only sing “ Jimmy Jimmy’ from Disco Dancer.”
The filmmaker said that the film will be shot on the outskirts of London, parts of Ireland and Germany and India. “We will be shooting for six-seven months, all through the year during different seasons. The film is scheduled for a 2020 release,” he added.

Earlier, actor Irrfan Khan was chosen to play the lead role but had to be replaced by Vicky after he was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumor and couldn’t return for an action role.
The film is penned by Ritesh Shah and Shubendu Bhattacharya and is being produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar.
