‘Nanak Naam Jahaz Hai’ is all set to create history again with a new Starcast!
Released in 1969, Punjabi cult film ‘Nanak Naam Jahaz Hai’ was a hugely successful devotional movie in the Punjabi language. People used to remove their shoes and cover their heads before entering into the theaters to watch the film. Now after 50 years of its release, Maann Singh Deep and Kalyani Singh have decided to join hands. Together they will produce the new version of 1969 cult classic with the same name ‘Nanak Naam Jahaz Hai’. The original version of the movie is directed by Ram Maheshwari. We hope the film will create history in the same way it did earlier.
‘Nanak Naam Jahaz Hai’, featured stars like Prithviraj Kapoor, IS Johar, Som Dutt, Veena, Nishi and Vimmi among others. The film won the National Award in the Punjabi language category in 1970.
The film was re-released in 2015 in enhanced color and sound format.
With never seen before performances by Prithviraj Kapoor & IS Johar, #NanakNaamJahazHai, the biggest Punjabi film ever will hit the theaters on 27 November 2015!!
According to reports, Yuvraj Hans, Aman Dhaliwal, and Drishti Garewal are going to play the lead roles in the film. Yamini Malhotra, who made her debut with Roshan Prince‘s ‘Main Teri Tu Mera’ will also be seen in it. Veteran Filmmaker and Actor Ratan Aulakh’s son Yuvraj Aulakh will mark his acting debut with the film. Besides them, the film will also have Mukesh Rishi, Vindoo Dara Singh, Dolly Mattoo & Sardar Sohi in pivotal roles.

To be written and directed by Kalyani Singh, the film will have music by Onkar Minhas. Furthermore, makers are yet to lock the release date, but they want to complete the film this year itself and wish to release it during Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Gurupurab.
About the film:
The original film ‘Nanak Naam Jahaz Hai’ was set Amritsar in 1947, a devout Sikh and prosperous contracting businessman, Gurmukh Singh (Prithviraj Kapoor), lives with his wife, and younger brother, Prem. Trouble starts when Prem gets married to Ratan Kaur, as her brother, Sukha, creates differences between two brothers, which eventually lead to the closure of the business. However amidst all the difficult times that come, Gurmukh never loses faith and in time, because of his sacrifice and quiet suffering, harmony is established in the family.
