Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa to get a sequel, will we get a new cast?

Who can forget Akshay Kumar‘s acting in the horror-comedy Bhool-Bhulaiyaa? I think nobody can! Released in 2007, well it feels like the film is going to get a sequel. It looks like Bollywood’s obsession with remakes is never-ending.
After 12 years, producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series is set to have a sequel of his 2007 home production Bhool Bhulaiyaa, which also starred Shiney Ahuja. The sequel has been titled as Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 but the cast of the film has not been revealed yet. While Priyadarshan directed the original, the new film will be written and directed by Farhad Samji.
A source close to the development told the daily, “Bhushan wanted to make a part 2 of Bhool Bhulaiyaa for a while now and has cracked an idea with Farhad Samji, who will be writing and directing the film. It is in the development stage and will feature a fresh cast. Once the final script is locked, the team will kick off casting and other pre-production formalities.”
The film will reportedly feature a new cast, which is still to be decided.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa was an official remake of the 2005 Tamil film Chandramukhi starring Rajinikanth. The Thalaiva starrer was itself a remake of a Malayalam film, Manichitrathazhu, starring Mohanlal and Shobhana which released in 1993. Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and Shiney Ahuja’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa saw Vidya and Shiney playing a couple who decide to stay in their ancestral home, paying no heed to the warnings about ghosts in the premises. Akki was seen playing Ahuja’s psychiatrist-friend Dr. Aditya Shrivastav, who bails them out of the situation. The film also featured Amisha Patel, Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav in pivotal roles.

Farhad Samji is also a writer for the upcoming remake of Coolie No 1 with Varun Dhawan, Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi, Baaghi 3 and Laxmi Bomb.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is busy with Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi. Later, the actor will also start shooting for the horror-comedy Laxmi Bomb, in which Akshay’s character is possessed by a transgender ghost. The film co-stars Kiara Advani.
