A review of love in Punjab: AFSAR

This past weekend on October 5, we saw the release of the Nimrat Khaira and Tarsem Jassar starrer movie “AFSAR“. The movie is a representation of the simple Punjab and a little but warm love story based herein. It runs on for about 2 hours and 08 minutes and the makers have tried their level best to keep it crisp, sweet and entertaining.
The basic plot of the movie revolves around Jaspal (Tarsem Jassar) who has a job as a ‘Kanungo‘ which is considered a great governmental post and the love of his life Harman (Nimrat Khaira) who he desires to tie the knot with. Problems arise when Harman’s father objects to the relationship going further with one sole reason, that the job of a ‘Patwari‘ which is a more lower level job than that of a Kanungo, is more influential.
It is now up to Jaspal to convince Harman’s father into agreeing to let him marry his daughter. Harman suggests that the former, however he can take up the job of a Patwari and get hitched as easily and hassle free as possible. Numerous interesting twists and turns further draw the course of the film.
The movie has catchy songs which have been garnering quite a lot of attention and thousands of views on YouTube as well. It has both songs one can groove and shake a leg to, and ones which make falling in love a lot easier.
IMDb gave the movie a rating of 6.5 starts out of 10. All in all, the movie has done some average business at the Box-Office so far and seems to be doing quite sustainable.
As for the actors, we hope they bask in the glory of this sweet film and prosper with even better projects.
