Trouble in Paradise! Case against Yo Yo Honey Singh for ‘Vulgar’ lyrics in his comeback song Makhna

Our favorite rapstar Yo Yo Honey Singh is known for his raps and its controversial lyrics in the songs. But we love him and wait eagerly for his next songs. But we cannot deny the fact that because of these controversial lyrics in his songs Honey Singh always lands himself in trouble.
Recently, we missed Honey Singh when he was away from music for many years. Honey Singh’s comeback was much awaited and he did come back with a bang. Well, so did the controversies surrounding him. A fresh controversy has sprung up due to some ‘lewd’ lyrics in the song Makhna. The song was released on 21st December 2018.
Last time, it was his song Main Hoon Balatkari (I am a rapist) that landed him in trouble and now its Makhna. Apparently, the Punjabi rapper is in trouble for the objectionable lyrics of his song Makhna. Honey Singh has allegedly used vulgar lyrics such as ‘Main hoon womaniser’ and ‘Silicon wali ladkiyon ko main pakadta Nahi’ in the song.

According to the Tribune, Manisha Gulati, Chairperson of the Punjab State Women Commission has filed a case. Taking a suo moto notice of the matter she has written to the Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Punjab DGP, and IG, Crime, Punjab, recommending action against the singer. She has asked that action be taken against the rapper. Especially for using lyrics like ‘Mein hoon womaniser’ and ‘Silicon wali ladkiyon ko mein pakadta Nahi’.
In her complaint, Manisha has written that the song is getting viral on social media and its video is also objectionable. Hence, she has asked the police to register an FIR against the singer and company owner. She wants the song to be banned. Gulati will meet the State Government officials to get the song banned at least in Punjab.
She said the Commission has sought a status report from the police officials by July 12 in this regard. Demanding a ban on the song, she said it is “indecent and have a degrading influence on society”.
Even the Punjab and Haryana High Court had ordered the Punjab government to file a case against Honey Singh for singing vulgar songs. It had also said singers like Honey Singh should be boycotted, as “his songs make us hang our heads in shame”.
Now, this will be interesting to see what Yo Yo has to say about this.
Recently, Yo Yo Honey Singh wrapped up the shoot of his upcoming video. The song is a remake of a popular Punjabi song. The song is expected to be out this month and will be a blend of Hip Hop and Bhangra.
