The last episode of Game of Thrones aired on May 20 (IST). The episode received mixed reviews from the audience. Some loved it whereas some didn’t appreciate it much! But know as Game of Thrones is over, what is next? Apart from the documentary which is releasing on May 26, we might also get a prequel to this mega-series! HBO is working on the prequel of this series. It will be set long before the War of the Five Kings and the bloodthirsty antics. It will be the history of Westeros 6000 to 10,000 years before the events which are shown in Game of Thrones.
The series is tentatively titled Blood moon. According to HBO, “From the horrifying secrets of Westeros’s history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend, only one thing is for sure: it’s not the story we think we know.”
This sounds interesting. Bloodmoon is expected to be a story about Children of Forest and the incident which gave origin to the White Walkers. In the book titled The World of Ice and Fire, this period is described as below
The Age of Heroes lasted for thousands of years, in which kingdoms rose and fell, noble houses were founded and withered away, and great deeds were accomplished. Yet what we truly know of those ancient days is hardly more than what we know of the Dawn Age. The tales we have now are the work of septons and maesters writing thousands of years after the fact.
Who will be starring in the prequel?
Since the show will talk about events which happened ages before Game of Thrones, so we might not see our favorite characters. But, we might get to watch their great ancestors and their stories henceforth. Night King might feature in the prequel.
It was during this period that Brandon the Builder built several forts and founded House Stark. He was the first king of the North and is an ancestor to Robb, Arya, Brandon, and Sansa.
His counterpart Lann the Clever took over Casterly ROck and founded House Lannister. It is believed that he lived for 300 years, was the first of the Ironborn and married a mermaid.
George R R Martin (the writer of Game of Thrones) is creating the show alongside Jane Goldman, and it is based on a story that the pair have written together.
