Fanney Khan and 5 Reasons you should be hyped for it!

Director debutante Atul Manjrekar is here with a possible hit on his hands with “Fanney Khan”, an adaptation of an Oscar-nominated flick “Everybody’s Famous!” The film is a Musical-Drama, something that’s rarely seen in Bollywood, if ever! The trailers for the movie and some song releases have surprised a lot of people, and in a good way.
The movie starring Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachhan and Raj Kumar Rao have upped the stakes and we’re here to tell you why you should flock to theatres on 3rd August. And we have plenty of reasons.
- Anil Kapoor returns in a leading role.
Fan favorite Anil Kapoor returns in a leading role, as a father of a teenage girl(Finally a role appropriate for his age, not that we mind!). One has to try really hard to remember the last time he got such screen-time and limelight in a movie. This is a good opportunity for his fans to witness a showcase of his talents, which we know there’s a lot of.
- Aishwarya returns to the biggest of screens after an eternity!
Well, an eternity might be a stretch but it really seems like it. We have missed the Diva and the magic she brings on the screen. The former Miss World is playing the role of a big celebrity with a huge teenage following, a role she’s all too familiar with. The teasers released suggest she’s playing a singer and might even be singing some songs herself. The news is music to our ears!
- Finally some teen-oriented cinema.
Bollywood and India aren’t known to be very teenage supportive, in fact the target teenage audience is instead fed with movies like Ra-One, Krish and Kick. Fanney Khan, a father to a teenage girl whose only dream is to be a singer and a star as big as her idol, Baby Singh and her story of achieving this dream. Indian parents and society could do a lot with watching what a young adult in our age and society goes through. A welcome step in many ways, we would recommend tagging along your mum or dad for this one.
- Unconventional roles, for everyone!
Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya both star in roles they never would have thought they would, ever. Blame it on the shift in audience’s taste or the actors seeking more diversity and challenging themselves (Finally). It’s about time we had consistent good cinema, and didn’t have to wait for Anurag Kashyap or Amir Khan to finish their brainchild which takes a lifetime. Even if it’s an adaptation, it’s still a good movie up for grabs!
- Musical Dramas!
It’s a musical drama people. A lot of hopes are pinned on Amit Trivedi and Tanishk Bagchi after releasing poster song, “Achhe Din” which is just heartbreakingly beautiful and has raised the level of expectations for the music. Bollywood has had a long history of selling tickets with the sole USP being a good musical album and since it’s a musical movie, I’m sure your ears will have a good time, at least.
So, these are some reasons to persuade you to spend some of your pocket money. There are plenty more reasons, we assure you. So we hope you head to the nearest cinemas with your friends, family or even alone on August 3rd. Or don’t. It’s your money!
