Ashke – Punjab’s Romance with Bhangra on the big screen.

Singer-actor and hit-maker Amrinder Gill is back with another movie after his previous release “Golak Bugni Bank te Batua” did good business both in India and overseas. The movie titled “Ashke” is an ode to Punjab and its love for Bhangra.
Amrinder Gill released the movie’s poster on 9th July on twitter which also announced debutante Sanjeeda Ali Shaikh as the lead actress and possible romance of Gill’s character in the movie. Shaikh has previously appeared in a lot of Indian daily soaps and was the winner of the 3rd edition of Nach Baliye, along with her husband, Aamir Ali.
The poster of the movie shows Khalsa College, Amritsar in the backdrop and it is speculated that the 8 actors starring on the front, are part of the college bhangra team in the movie. The producers roped in veteran Punjabi actor Jaswinder Bhalla with Hobby Dhaliwal and Gurshabad also star in important roles.
Lead Amrinder Gill and rumored director Amberdeep Singh were a part of the same Bhangra team in their college days and even represented Khalsa College in a number of inter-university festivals. The movie is said to be very close to their hearts and it’s suggested that the duo had a desire to make a movie about Bhangra from a long time and had even tried getting some people together for the same earlier, but the idea was always postponed for various reasons.
“Handsome Jatta”, sung by Jordan Sandhu for the movie was also released on 24th July and has garnered love from all around. A number of songs from the movie are going to be released in a few days with Handsome Jatta setting a standard for the songs to be measured with. The producers have not released an actual trailer yet, which is very unusual and only time if this will be called a mistake or a new tactic.
Ashke releases on 27th July worldwide and is set to be a commercial success with the star-power they already have and the fact that no other notable names have a release soon.
